Peter Clement was appointed Deputy Director for Intelligence

for Analytic Programs in January 2005. Mr. Clement joined the

Agency in 1977 and spent much of his first 25 years focused on the Soviet

Union and post-Soviet Russia —as an analyst, as Director of the

Office of Russia-Eurasian Analysis and then as CIA’s Russia Issue

Manager from 1997-2003.

 

Since then, Mr. Clement was a PDB briefer for then Vice

President Cheney and NSC Adviser Rice, and subsequently served as

the DCI’s Representative to the U.S. Mission to the United Nations.

Mr. Clement holds a PhD in Russian history and an MA in European

history, both from Michigan State University; he has a BA in liberal

arts from SUNY-Oswego.

 

He has been active in the American Association for the Advancement

of Slavic Studies since 1974, the Brookings Institution Russia

Seminar since 1995, and has been a member of the Council on Foreign

Relations since 2001.

 

Mr. Clement taught Russian history and politics for over ten

years as an adjunct professor at local universities , and has published

some ten journal articles and book chapter on Russia, Central Asia, and

the Cuban missile crisis.

The Program:

Since 1955 ICWA's Distinguished Speakers has brought some of the world's best minds to Indianapolis for a dinner presentation to discuss international topics of interest. The program is held at The Marten House Hotel and conference center located at 1801 West 86th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46260 (Just east of St. Vincent Hospital).

 

This program is typically held on the third Wednesday of the month September-May, except December. Advanced reservations are required to attend the dinner. Please see invitation posted on this page for reservation instructions. They may differ slightly for each speaker. Please be prompt with your reservation. We cannot accomodate reservations made after the deadline posted in the invitation.

 

The price of the dinner program for members is $24 and their guests, $30 for non-members. The public is welcome to attend the talk only portion of the program for $3 (members), $4 (non-members).

 

The program begins with a short reception from 5:30-6:15pm. Dinner is from 6:15-7:15pm. The program begins at 7:15pm. If you are not attending the dinner please remain in the lobby area until the end of dinner.
